Legal Aid to offer housing and eviction clinic

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Legal Aid is holding a Housing and Eviction Clinic for residents of its eight county district on Tuesday.

The COVID-19 housing crisis has sharply increased the risk of evictions and has created an extraordinary need for renters to know their rights and responsibilities/resources. Our volunteer attorneys will provide information related to housing and eviction issues.

The district includes Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Rush, and Shelby Counties. The phone clinic will be conducted from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and pre-registration is required between noon to 2 p.m.

Individuals calling to the Housing and Eviction Clinic can expect to receive a brief consultation to answer housing and eviction questions. Individuals seeking legal consultation must pre-register by calling Legal Aid at 812-378-0358 on Tuesday between noon to 2 p.m. A volunteer attorney will return calls to registered individuals between 3 and 5:30 p.m. Individuals must be available then to answer a call from an attorney.
