Zachary Romero was sworn in as the newest Columbus Police Department officer by Mayor Jim Lienhoop during the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on Feb. 18 at city hall.
Romero, 26, is a Seymour High School graduate. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years where he attained the rank of corporal and earned a number of honors and certifications before being honorably discharged. He was most recently employed at Valeo in Seymour.
Romero will begin orientation and training at the police department in preparation for attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy later this year.
