Top-seeded Hansons and third-seeded CCA will play for the Columbus Broomball League championship at 6:30 p.m. today after both won semifinal games last week.
CCA opened with a 7-2 first-round win against No. 6 Toyota Tsunamis behind four goals from Max Warr and three from Scott Herron. Crystal Rollins and Jimmy Robertson scored for Tsunamis.
In the other first-round matchup, No. 4 Our Name Is Earl beat No. 5 Jennings County BC 3-1 in a shootout after the teams had played to a 1-1 stalemate. Darren Eckerly scored a regulation goal and a shootout goal, and Nick Lewis and Cesar Hernandez added shootout goals for Earl. Darrien Castetter had a regulation goal and shootout goal for Jennings.
CCA blanked No. 2 The Steagles 3-0 in the semifinals. Herron netted two goals, and Dave Dickinson had one.
In the other semifinal, Hansons beat Our Name is Earl 5-3. Max Street scored two goals, and Eric Spilling, Cindy Mason and Ryan Jepson all added one for Hansons. Ellie Lutz, Dani Kareus and Eckerly scored for Earl.
Jennings County BC and Toyota Tsunamis will play for fifth place at 4:30 p.m. today. The Steagles and Our Name Is Earl will play for third place at 5:30 p.m., followed by the title match at 6:30 p.m.
