Crown Point, Silver Creek, Linton, Pioneer win girls basketball titles

Class 4A No. 2 Crown Point won its first girls basketball state title since 1985 Saturday night with a 44-34 win against Brownsburg at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Jessica Carrothers scored 25 points to lead Crown Point (25-1), which trailed 19-10 after one quarter before outscoring Brownsburg 14-0 in the second period.

Ally Becki led Brownsburg (17-11) with 19 points. Quinci Thomas added 10.

Class 3A

Top-ranked Silver Creek won its first state title with a 54-48 win against No. 8 South Bend Washington Saturday afternoon.

Marissa Gasaway led the Dragons (25-3) with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Alana Striverson scored 11 points, and Kynidi Striverson added 10.

Myla Reynolds led the Panthers (22-6) with 18 points. Rashunda Jones added 13.

Class 2A

Top-ranked Linton rolled to its second consecutive state title with a 63-25 win against Tipton on Friday night, breaking the record they set last year for fewest points allowed in a championship game.

Haley Rose led the Miners (27-1) with 24 points. Vanessa Shafford scored 13, and Jaylee Hayes added 10.

Ashlee Schram led Blue Devils (20-7) with 16 points.

Class A

Ashlynn Brooke scored with 7 seconds remaining to lift No. 7 Pioneer to a 43-42 win against No. 4 Loogootee Saturday morning in a rematch of last year’s Class A title game won by the Lions.

Olivia Brooke led the Panthers (25-4) with 13 points and eight rebounds. Haley Cripe scored 12 points, and Ashlynn Brooke added 10.

Kylie VanHoy led the Lions (20-5) with 18 points. Brooklyn Jones added 12.
