State: 736 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health announced today that 736 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 661,673 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 12,142 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 17 from the previous day. Another 431 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.

To date, 3,117,201 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 3,112,174 on Saturday. A total of 8.021,430 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Bartholomew County reported 7,448 positive tests (up eight) with 147 deaths (no change) as of Sunday.

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 4,645 positive cases (up two) with 66 deaths (no change).
  • Jennings County: 2,150 positive cases (up three) with 44 deaths (no change).
  • Decatur County: 2,708 positive cases (up four) with 88 deaths (no change).
  • Shelby County: 4,602 positive cases (up two) with 90 deaths (no change).
  • Johnson County: 16,336 positive cases (up 17) with 359 deaths (up three).
  • Brown County: 949 positive cases (no change) with 39 deaths (no change).

Hoosiers age 60 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders who are regularly called to the scene of an emergency to render medical assistance, are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. As of today, 992,727 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine, and 565,722 are fully vaccinated.

Additional locations and appointments are being added as more vaccine becomes available.
