Brady Beyer // Columbus East sophomore swimmer
Beyer broke his own school record in Friday’s preliminaries and again in Saturday’s state finals in finishing 13th in the 500-yard freestyle. He also placed 16th in the 100 breaststroke and swam on the 27th-place 200 medley relay team.
His performance last week: “For the most part, I was pretty happy with it. Obviously, I would have liked to make the top eight, but I was pleased with it, considering the situation.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I make sure I get a good night’s sleep before and make sure I’m staying hydrated.”

Favorite sports team: “Indianapolis Colts.”

Best advice: “Good race or not, 99 percent of the time, you’re going to have a next race, so look forward to how you can improve from the last one.”
Athletics goal: “I want to make the 2021 Olympic Trials in the 200 breaststroke, the 100 breaststroke and the 400 IM.”
If you could travel anywhere: “Probably somewhere warm like Hawaii. The Indiana winter has hit very hard this year, so I want to go someplace warm.”
FEMALE
Emily Moore // Columbus North junior gymnast
Moore won the floor and finished second in the all-around competition Friday to lead the Bull Dogs to the Columbus East Sectional title. She also finished second on the vault, bars and beam.
Her performance last week: “I feel good about it, and I’m confident that we’ll do well at state, just by the past meets that we’ve had.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “East good and listen to good music.”
Favorite drink: “Dr. Pepper”
Favorite food: “Cheese pizza”
Favorite class: “AP Psychology”
Favorite sports team: “UCLA Gymnastics”
