Cougars upset Raiders

MILAN — South Decatur is one win away from its first back-to-back sectional titles in school history after stunning Class 2A No. 5 South Ripley 64-62 Friday night in the Milan Sectional semifinals.

Evan Wullenweber and Lane Lauderbaugh each scored 19 points to lead the Cougars. (15-7). Hunter Johnson had 12, and Tyler Sporleder added nine for South Decatur, which avenged an 85-78 loss from early in the season.

“We got off to a really slow start (Friday), but after we came back, we kind of got on a roll,” South Decatur coach Kendall Wildey said.

The Cougars will play Triton Central in the sectional final at 7 p.m. today.

Trinity tops Edinburgh

CAMPBELLSBURG — Trinity Lutheran pulled another upset, ousting Class A No. 7 Edinburgh with a 72-63 win in the semifinals of the West Washington Sectional.

Hudson Norton led the Cougars (10-13) with 21 points. Tyler Goecker scored 19 points, Jack Marksberry had 18 and Mitchell Hackman added 10.

Travis Jones led the Lancers (18-6) with 17 points. Caleb Dewey and Noah Detling each scored 14, and Isaac Roberts added nine.

Trinity advances to play host West Washington in the sectional final at 7:30 p.m. today.
