CAMPBELLSBURG — Trinity Lutheran captured first sectional title since 2014 Saturday night with a 57-41 win over host West Washington.
The Cougars (11-13) were coming off an upset of Class A No. 7 Edinburgh in Saturday’s semifinals.
"Especially when you think about typically only playing seven guys, getting emotionally up, they were ready, but physically, we started out a little slow," Trinity coach Ryan Crase said. "But we turned it on in the second half."
Jack Marksberry led the Cougars with 14 points. Tyler Goecker scored 12, Mitchell Hackman had 11 and Hudson Norton added nine.
Trinity advances to play Class A No. 1 Barr-Reeve at 10 a.m. Saturday in the semifinals of the Loogootee Regional. The regional final will be Saturday evening.
