I am an older man deep into the last trimester of life. As a consequence, I have been reflecting on the past years and decades and how grateful I am for the gifts of golden friends and the guidance through life by the many dedicated teachers and instructors who have opened many pathways to opportunity for me.
I have also been remembering the many poor judgements, mistakes, and destructive, self-centered decisions I have made. This has caused me to ponder what excuses and explanations I might put forward when applying for admission through the "pearly gates" (or in my case the "not-so-pearly gates")!
This anxiety was alleviated a bit when I learned of the destructive force of Dr. Seuss and his books by "cancel culture." I gorged on his books as a growing and easily-influenced child at our local library; reading several of them many times.
I now wish I had purchased a few. A big profit could be made now!
So, a hearty thanks to Dr. Seuss for alleviating much of my anxiety. It also helps to know "only the good die young," so I have many more years to contemplate my dilemma.
