Trinity’s Jaynes named to Indiana All-Star team

Sydney Jaynes, who led Trinity Lutheran to a girls basketball sectional title, has been named to this year’s Indiana All-Star team.

The 6-foot-3 senior averaged 19.0 points, 3.4 assists and 2.3 steals and led the Cougars with 9.0 rebounds a game this season. The Butler recruit finished as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,598 points.

Jaynes is joined on the All-Star team by Brownsburg’s Ally Becki, Roncalli’s Maddie Bischoff, Hammond Noll’s Courtney Blakely, Fishers’ Katie Burton, Penn’s Kaitlyn Costner, Bedford North Lawrence’s Chloe McNight, North Central’s Meg Newman, Linton’s Vanessa Shafford, Goshen’s Brynn Shoup-Hill, Lawrence North’s Jayla Smith, Michigan City’s Trinity Thompson and Heritage Christian’s Ariana Wiggins. Carmel’s Bridget Dunn was selected, but is injured and unable to play.

The Indiana All-Stars will play the Indiana Junior All-Stars in an exhibition game at a site to be announced. The Indiana All-Stars then will play the Kentucky All-Stars June 11 at the Owensboro (Kentucky) SportsCenter and June 12 at Southport High School.
