Our nation is in trouble in part because evangelicals did not get out in force and vote in the 2020 election as they did in 2016.
No matter what you thought of President Trump personally, he loves America and fought for her and us during his term. For her safety (borders), unborn children (abortion), religious freedoms (Religious Freedom Restoration Act) more so than any of his predecessors, just to name a few.
Now, the present administration is trying to undo all of his forward progress.
The other factor is that the church is standing on the sidelines rather than getting involved in the fight for our country. We can help God save America by praying (Psalm 34:17; Matthew 21:22) and becoming an active participant (James 1:22).
We are at a crossroads of good vs. evil. (Romans 12:21; 2 Chronicles 7:14).
Citizens must decide which way we will choose to go before that choice is denied. The ecclesia (church) is being tested and God is waiting and watching to see how we will respond.
We cannot just sit idly back and watch events unfold. It is too risky and dangerous not only to us but to future generations.
“The church must be a public voice for the eternal truths of God," Neal Laybourne said.
Each of us must now declare our allegiance (Revelation 3:15-16). We cannot bury our heads in the sand or leave it to someone else.
The morality and foundation upon which the United States of America was built is being shaken to its very core. We cannot let it completely crumble, but MUST join together to raise it back up to its former glory.
Consider what two of our Founding Fathers said about the connection between God and government.
George Washington said, “We ought to be no less persuaded that the propitious smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself has ordained.”
John Adams said, “Religion and virtue are the only foundations, not only of republicanism and all free government, but of social felicity under all governments and in all the combinations of human society.”
Believers need to be more outspoken and courageous in condemning evil. Christians are to penetrate society without being penetrated themselves (Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; 1 John 2:15-17).
As Sir Frederick Catherwood stated, “To try to improve society is not worldliness but love. To wash your hands of society is not love but worldliness.”
Do not be silent; speak up. Do not remain rooted in your chair; take a stand. Do not deny your faith; assert it.
A significant phrase from the applicable lyrics of “Do Something," by Matthew West, is “It’s time for us to do something.”
Another timely phrase from the pertinent lyrics of “Start Right Here” by Casting Crowns states, “It’s got to start right here…right now.”
It is never too late to make a difference!
