The Indianapolis chapter of Sewa International USA, a Hindu faith-based, humanitarian service organization, arranged a "Farmers to Families Food Box" distribution drive at Fair Oaks Mall parking lot on March 27.
More than 15,000 pounds of USDA fresh produce and dairy products, in 432 boxes, were distributed by over 30 volunteers to needy families in communities in and around Columbus. Local members of Sewa International and and the Columbus chapter of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh were among the volunteers.
Sewa International specializes in disaster relief and rehabilitation. The organization’s development programs focus on family services, child, tribal and refugee welfare, women empowerment, health, and education.
In addition to our work in the US, the organization has undertaken development projects in Colombia, Guyana, India, Kenya, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
