Local man arrested on warrant after fleeing CPD officers

A local man who was wanted on a Bartholomew County warrant was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he was accused of attempting to flee from Columbus police officers.

At approximately 4:35 p.m., CPD officers observed Bradley A. Longworth, 39, of 1026 Chestnut St., while on patrol in the 1000 block of Chestnut Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers confirmed a local warrant for Longworth’s arrest and he reportedly fled inside a nearby residence and shut the front door when the officers attempted to make contact with him. A short time later, Longworth was located and taken into custody without further incident, Harris said.

Longworth was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges or resisting law enforcement and the warrant. He was being held in jail in lieu of $15,000 bond, jail officials said.
