COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Columbus Police Department is investigating a Thursday morning crash that seriously injured three people.
At approximately 6:15 a.m., CPD officers were dispatched to a three-vehicle crash on County Road 450S near County Road 100W.
Investigators determined that a 1995 Ford F150 driven by Steven W. Beavers, 65, of Seymour, was traveling east on 450W when he sideswiped a 2019 Honda Accord, driven by Douglas W. Meek, 50, of Hope who was uninjured and then collided head on with a 2001
Nissan Altima driven by Maria Hernandez, 39, of Columbus. Both Beavers and Hernandez along with Mariela Ramos Gonzalez, 36, of Columbus, who was a passenger in Hernandez’s vehicle, were seriously injured in the crash. All three injured persons were flown by separate medical helicopters to Indianapolis for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by accident reconstructionists from both the Columbus Police Department and the Indiana State Police.
Assisting agencies at the crash scene were Columbus Regional Hospital Paramedics, Columbus Fire Department, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, IU Medical Lifeline, Saint Vincent Statflight.
