COLUMBUS, Ind. — CenterPoint Energy, formerly known as Vectren, reported that the company has about 380 customers without gas service today as repairs continue on a 10-inch gas main which was severed by a contractor Wednesday.
Once repairs are completed, technicians will begin a “relight” process, the company said. It is possible customers will not have gas service until early evening today.
Homes were evacuated in the Abbey Place subdivision area at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the gas line was severed. No injuries were reported.
Columbus Fire Department, Columbus police and utility personnel worked at the scene until the gas line was capped at 10:15 p.m. and residents were allowed to return to their homes.
