After a lot of study and practice, Gail Nowels’ 11th-grade physics students at Columbus Signature Academy New Tech High School applied their lessons to real life by tackling wiring projects in a house being refurbished by Housing Partnership Inc.

The city’s water treatment plant at Lincoln Park spilled at least 5 pounds of potassium permanganate into Haw Creek.

1971

A huge mound of discarded cans continued to grow in front of Columbus High School as students collected them in observance of Earth Week, while seventh- and eighth-graders at Jonesville-Whitecreek Lutheran School did their part by picking up 15 sacks of trash during a physical education period.
