COLUMBUS, Ind. — A motorcycle rider and passenger were injured at about 4 p.m. Tuesday after an accident on U.S. 31 just south of County Road 100S.
Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies said a motorcycle driven by Tony G. Michael, 53, North Vernon, failed to stop for slowed traffic on U.S. 31. After skidding about 75 feet, the motorcycle came to rest on the est side of the roadway with Michael and a female passenger thrown from the motorcycle, deputies said.
Michael was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital. His passenger was flown to an Indianapolis hospital.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
