North clinches title share
Columbus North clinched at least a share of the Conference Indiana title with a 15-0, five-inning win against Bloomington North on Friday.
The Bull Dogs (9-4, 4-0) scored four times in the first and broke the game open with 11 runs in the fourth. Maddi Rutan went 2 for 3 with a double and threw a two-hitter.
Lexi Heafner went 2 for 2, and Josie Lemmons went 2 for 3 for Columbus North. Lillian Mackey had a double and two RBIs.
Stars slip past East
BEDFORD — Columbus East outhit Bedford North Lawrence 8-5, but the Stars came away with a 5-3 Hoosier Hills Conference win.
Kenzie Foster and Kerigan Greathouse each went 2 for 4 for the Olympians (2-14, 0-4). Kaitlin Brummett had a double and two RBIs.
BASEBALL
Panthers edge East
NORTH VERNON — Carson McNulty’s one-out single in the bottom of the eighth gave Jennings County a 4-3 win against Columbus East.
Jacob Vogel went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and threw a four-hitter for the Panthers (6-4). Logan McIntosh went 2 for 4.
Kaden Wise struck out 16 and allowed three hits and four runs in seven innings for the Olympians (6-6-1). Ben Major went 2 for 4.
GIRLS TENNIS
Hauser tops Trinity
SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, but Hauser took the other three to pull out a 3-2 victory.
Kaitlynn Everroad beat Drew Hubbard 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (6-3). Hauser’s Aunaka Wasil and Emily Harker topped Katelyn Mensendick and Kiley Label 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Charlie Clark and Gabby Johns downed Bekah Brown and Erin Enzinger 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Trinity’s Sarah Lemming beat Andie Clark 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Regan Cain topped Bella Kilps 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.
