Columbus Regional Health reported about 10 to 15 people had turned out for walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations as of Thursday afternoon, the day after the hospital system started allowing people to get their shots without scheduling an appointment.
The clinic is accepting walk-ins at the COVID-19 vaccination site at 1702 Keller Ave., said spokeswoman Kelsey DeClue.
Until this week, people were required to schedule an appointment online at ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211.
Currently, “ideal” times for walk-ins are:
Mondays: Noon to 5:30 p.m.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Fridays: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
However, CRH will not turn anyone away who shows up at the clinic at other times wanting to get vaccinated, DeClue said.
Additionally, people can still schedule an appointment online if they would like to reserve a specific slot and potentially reduce their check-in time, DeClue said.
CRH is only administering the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, which has been authorized for use in anyone ages 16 and up.
As of Thursday morning, a total of 26,536 Bartholomew County residents were fully vaccinated, or about 40% of eligible residents and nearly 32% of the county’s total population, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.
A total of 33,641 Bartholomew County residents had received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as of Thursday morning, or just over half of eligible residents and 40% of the population.
