Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. will reward teachers and support staff who have worked through the 2020-21 school year with second semester stipends.
On Monday, the BCSC school board approved a resolution on second semester stipends for both teachers and support staff. School officials said that the resolution also involves pay for an upcoming half-day of work for teachers on May 27.
Superintendent Jim Roberts said that the stipends recognize employees’ hard work during the school year’s second semester.
Communications coordinator Josh Burnett said that the stipends range from $206 to $360.50 for teachers and $100-$200 for support staff. He also said that administrators are not receiving stipends from this resolution.
An initial round of similar stipends were approved earlier in the school year.
Previously, the school board approved a resolution for teacher COVID-19 stipends in fall and later approved staff stipends in February. In both cases, the stipends honored employees’ diligent work during the first semester amid the pandemic’s unique challenges.
Monday marked the last school board meeting before students’ final day of school on May 26. Toward the meeting’s end, Board President Jill Shedd thanked BCSC leaders, teachers, staff, students and families for their hard work over the past year.
“It has been an extraordinary and an exceptional year,” she said. “I think everyone’s job has been different. Everyone has done something that you never thought you could possibly do.”
