Local man arrested after domestic violence incident at motel

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a local man on confinement, strangulation and domestic battery charges after a battery was reported in the 11000 block of North U.S. 31.

Deputies were sent to the location at 12:14 a.m. Tuesday, and upon arrival, allowed a female to remove her belongings while they secured the motel room.

Sgt. Gary Knoef and Deputy Dustin Newland located the suspect, Murriel D. Ramey, 37, of 4972 N. County Road 150W, in the parking lot and he was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for clearance before being taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of confinement, strangulation and domestic battery, deputies said.

He was being held in jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.
