COLUMBUS
Richard A. Metz, 84, of Columbus, passed from this life at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Metz was born May 31, 1937, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Julius J. and Ruth M. Summa Metz.
He married Barbara Kay Groves December 31, 1955.
Richard was the owner of Metz TV Sales and Service.
He was a member of Taylorsville United Methodist Church, AMA, Stoney Lonesome and Clifty Wheelers Motorcycle Clubs.
He was ranked #1 Flat Track Racer in the State for 2 years.
He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and racing motorcycles.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years; children, Jeffrey (Latrisha) Metz of Columbus, Rebecca (Tim) Douglas of Taylorsville, Michael (Terri) Metz of Columbus, Timothy (Julie) Metz of Taylorsville and Jennifer (Jeff) Anderson of Georgetown, IN; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother, Ruth M. Coons and a brother, John David Metz.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Lonny Goen officiating.

Private inurnment will be at a later date at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Christian Motorcycle Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
