COLUMBUS
Albert “Bert” W. Christopher, 89, of Columbus, passed from this life at 5:52 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Christopher was born December 24, 1931, in Port de Grave, Newfoundland, Canada, the son of Albert B. and Dorcus K. Mercer Christopher.
He married Julia Seymour February 14, 1956.
Bert retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1985 after 23 years of service and was owner of Christopher Furniture and Mattress.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Columbus Moose Lodge #398 for over 50 years.
He enjoyed traveling, and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years; children, Cynthia (David) Brown of Yuma, Arizona, Albert Curtis (Pamela) Christopher of Remington, Indiana, Cheryl Christopher of Columbus and Carl (Zonie) Christopher of Columbus; grandchildren, Shane Hardin, Stephen Christopher, Rebecca Christopher, Ashley (Elie Murphy) Parks, Briana Vera, Sarah (Chris Dudley) Hundley, Brooklyn Childers and Addison Hundley; great-grandchildren, Ryana Hardin, Mason Henry, Zayne Parks, Zaylen Vera, Drace Vera, Carter Dudley, Kayla Murphy and Jude Murphy and several nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tom and Claud Christopher and a sister, Marina Wilson.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with The Reverend Kathryn Thomas officiating.
Family and friend may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.
Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
