PHOENIX, Ariz.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Michael S. Baker on June 30, 2021 at his home in Phoenix Arizona. Mike lived all his early years in Columbus, Indiana and this is where his heart remained. Mike loved Indiana, North High and IU. Mike graduated from North High School in 1995. He went on to spend 6 years at IU and earned his Juris Doctorate. Mike loved to travel and spent a year in Italy teaching English. He started his law career as a public defender in Phoenix and opened his law firm there in 2005. Mike was passionate about his clients getting the very best he had to offer. Mike was one of the most compassionate people I ever knew. Mike’s proudest accomplishment were his two children, Allison and Atticus. He was always striving to be a better person, better dad, better lawyer, better brother. He never did anything halfheartedly but threw himself into any person or project with his whole being. Mike was proceeded in death by his mother, Brenda and his grandparents, Everett and Loretta Baker. Mike was devoted not only to his children but also to his sisters, Eve and Jennifer and brother, Greg. His wit and sense of adventure will truly be missed by his loving partner, Melissa Wallingsford and dear friend, Dawn Tompkins, nieces, cousins, brother in law and his Uncle Larry and Aunt Lura. A celebration of life will be held here in Indiana for friends and family on Saturday, August 14 at 1:00p.m. at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd in Hope. We request no flowers but just a memory you might want to share.
