Barbara Mouser Brown

Barbara J. Mouser-Brown, 84, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Barbara was born May 9, 1937 in Columbus, Indiana to James H. and Mary Mildred Boffo.

She attended Columbus Baptist Church for several years. Barbara married Jack L. Mouser on July 13, 1956. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1993. She married Charles Brown on May 11, 1997 and he survives.

Though Barbara held many jobs throughout her life, her favorite job was being a housewife, a mother, a grandmother, and a caregiver. She was a wonderful granny and was very involved in raising her grandchildren and great-children. She was an avid gardener, and a wonderful baker, and loved spending time with her family.

Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Charlie Brown; four daughters, Pat (T.) Riherd, Paula (Levi I) Brown, Pam (Bill) McAnelly, and Penny (Kenny Turner) Mouser; step-daughter, Kristy (David) Smith; her brothers, Marvin and Robert (Vivian) Boffo; her sister-in-law, Donna Venters; sisters-in-law, Anne Clemmons and Marilyn Harmon; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jack L. Mouser; grandson, Nathan Rogers; and sister-in-law, Jenny Owens.

A funeral service for Barbara will be held Friday, October 22 at 11 a.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel with Brother Scott Bourland officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends and family may call for visitation on Thursday, October 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Memorial donations in Barbara’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
