Charles D. ‘Dan’ Shrader

Charles D. “Dan” Shrader, 69, passed away at his home in Franklin, Indiana on Friday evening, October 29, 2021.

Dan grew up and resided in Columbus, Indiana for many years, graduating from Columbus High School in 1970 and Purdue University in 1974. He spent his information technology and project management career with Arvin Industries, Cummins Engine Company, and IU Health, retiring from both Cummins and IU Health. Over the years, Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, and most recently family gatherings poolside.

Dan is survived by his wife, Rita, and four sons, Joel D. (Mardi) Shrader, Matthew C. Shrader, Justin A. (Leslie) Hardwick, and Josh K. (Kirstyn) Hardwick. He was grandfather to six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is the youngest of four children, and his sisters are Billie (Paul) Moffitt, Jackie (Charles) Ward, and Debbie (Elmo) Coleman.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Joel A. and E. Bernadine Shrader.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Main Street Hospice in Franklin, the Humane Societies of Johnson and Bartholomew Counties, and the Oncology Center at Johnson Memorial Hospital.

Per Dan’s instructions, a small, private celebration of life will be held at his home.
