A Franklin, Indiana woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after fleeing from a traffic stop on Friday night.
At approximately 10:50 p.m., CPD officers stopped a car near 25th Street and Beam Road after the driver, who was later identified as Cathy A. Nance, 65, struck a curb with her vehicle, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officers approached Nance’s vehicle and attempted to speak to her, however, she ignored the officers and drove off a short time later, Harris said. The officers pursued Nance a short distance and observed that she turned south on to Marr Road from 25th Street and drove southbound in the northbound lanes before stopping her vehicle, Harris said.
Nance was taken into custody moments later and officers noted the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, Harris said.
She provided a portable breath sample of .198% and was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital where a blood alcohol test was conducted. Nance was later transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges:
Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated
Resisting law enforcement
Nance, whose bond was set at $10,000, has since bonded out of jail, jail officials said.
