Bull Dogs finish 11th
PORTLAND — Columbus North freshman Justice Thornton won the 126-pound weight division to lead Columbus North to an 11th-place finish in the East Central Indiana Classic.
The Bull Dogs finished with 90.5 points. Jay County won the 16-team event with 206.
Thornton won a 10-3 decision over Colton Spurgeon of Mount Vernon in the championship bout.
North’s Jared Slocum finished third at 182. Liam Curfman (106), Jaedin Richards (138) and Liam Phillips (152) all took seventh, and Brian Avila (285) was eighth.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Cougars fall twice
CONNERSVILLE — South Decatur dropped a pair of games in the Connersville Invitational.
The Cougars fell to Bloomington North 75-47 in the semifinals. Hunter Johnson led the way with 23 points.
In the consolation game, South Decatur fell to Class 3A No. 1 Connersville 75-49. Johnson finished with 20 points.
