MALE

Caleb Dewey // Edinburgh junior basketball player

Dewey led the Lancers with 27 points in a 68-48 win against Lanesville, scored 17 in a 57-47 win over North White and led Edinburgh with 28 points in a 60-48 title game win against Indianapolis Lutheran in the Edinburgh Tournament.

His performance last week: “That’s just how I felt like I needed to play. In that championship game, we started slow, and somebody needed to bring some energy.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I like to meditate and pray. During the national anthem, I usually pray. If it’s warm outside, I’ll get shots up at my house.”

Favorite drink: “Sprite”

Favorite food: “10 oz. Sirloin”

Favorite class: “English”

Favorite sports team: “Maryland”

Favorite athlete: “Melo Trimble”

Role model: “My older brother Jacob.”

Best advice: “Never give up. Always play hard or try hard, no matter what it is.”

Athletics goal: “To play college basketball.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Australia. I like nature and wildlife, and there’s a lot of it there.”

Juliann Woodard // Jennings County sophomore basketball player

Juliann Woodard

Woodard recorded 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists an five steals in a 59-28 win against Martinsville, then had 35 points, 22 rebounds and three blocked shots in a 66-42 win against Avon in the Ben Davis Classic.

Her performance last week: “I think both games were really good team wins. We were knocking down shots. The work that we put in at practice paid off.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Usually, I listen to music, and I always eat an apple before every game.”

Favorite drink: “Sweet tea”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite class: “German III”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University”

Favorite athlete: “(IU center) Mackenzie Holmes”

Role model: “My parents (Susan Rose and Bryan Woodard).”

Best advice: “Nothing is given. Everything is earned.”

Athletics goal: “My team goal is to win sectional and see how far we can go.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Greece, because it’s just a very scenic, unreal looking place.”
