COLUMBUS
Gary Lynn Acton, 63, of Columbus, passed away at 12:36 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Gary was born March 8, 1958, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of Melvin Leroy and Priscilla Ann Greene Acton. On December 20, 1998, he married Virginia Beesley.
Mr. Acton enjoyed fishing, mowing grass and small engine repair. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Gary liked to spend time playing with his grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Working outdoors, holiday time gatherings and playing gospel music were among his favorite things to do.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Virginia; children, Timothy Snyder of Austin, Thomas (Erica) Acton of Valonia, Gary (Amy) Acton, Jr. of Columbus, Roy Acton, Amy Acton; step-children, Heather (Dustin) Carman Charles (Chasity) Walls, both of Columbus; 22 grandchildren; man, many adopted grandchildren; brothers, Robert Acton of Scottsburg, Doug (Millie) Acton of Medora; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Cayden Carman and brother, Steven Acton.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and no services are currently planned.
