Rodger Neil Lawson

NORTH VERNON

Rodger Neil Lawson, 73, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.

Born February 26, 1948, in Hawesville, Kentucky, he was the son of Sheril and Pauline (Frashure) Lawson.

Rodger was a 1970 graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and 1989 graduate of Marion College where he earned his RN nursing degree. Rodger served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an RN for 23 years at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, and for Bentley Village in Naples, Florida and was currently working as a RN for the Bartholomew County Health Department in Columbus. Rodger was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Indianapolis, a charter member of Estero Lions Club in Estero, Florida, and was an obligate of Our Lady of Grace Monastery prayer group in Beech Grove. He enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, traveling, going on cruises and attending auctions.

Survivors include his best friend and companion, Jerry Sharp; his sister, Kay Pierce of Patoka; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Joseph, and Sheril A. Lawson; and sister, Patricia Jackson.

A funeral service for Rodger will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Jack Hannum officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials may be made in honor of Rodger through the funeral home to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
