COLUMBUS
Shirley M. Sims, 88, of Columbus, passed from this life February 5, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
She was born April 21, 1933, in Franklin County, Indiana, the daughter of Leonard and Laura Hunter Fox.
Shirley married George O. Sims Jr. October 22, 1955; he preceded her in death September 4, 2000.
She retired as a beautician after 35 years of service, and was an avid bowler and member of First Baptist Church of Hope.
Known as “Nana” for the last 38 years, Shirley remained present in her loved ones’ lives, praying daily for them and cherishing every moment she could spend with them.
Friends and strangers frequently commented on her sharp wit.
She held her family close to her heart, spending much of her day on the phone with her family and loved ones. She loved Sprite, black coffee and Steak ‘n Shake hamburgers. Her soft, sweet hugs and “I love you” always preceded a goodbye.
We’ll miss her dearly but rejoice knowing she’s in glory with Jesus and so many loved ones.
