Rev. Darryl Duane Douglas

NORTH VERNON

Rev. Darryl Duane Douglas, 74, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at his residence.

Born January 28, 1948, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Floyd and Lydia (Stroup) Douglas. He married Kay Thomas on January 16, 1967, in Hope; she survives.

Darryl served in the US Army from 1966 until 1968, serving during Vietnam. He received his GED from the US Army in 1968. He was employed for five and half years for NTN Driveshaft in Columbus where he worked as a Robot Setup Technician; he had previously worked as a supervisor for Componx in North Vernon for eight years and startup for Madison Precision in Madison. Darryl was a former member and pastor of Seymour Community Church and attended Lowell Baptist Church in Columbus. Darryl served as a former pastor for Highway Holiness in North Vernon, Madison Church of God in Madison, Crossroads Baptist in Salem and Pekin Church of God in Pekin. He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, playing guitar and mandolin, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving with his wife Kay, are his sons, Eric Douglas, Emanuele Douglas, Ethan Douglas, and Levi Douglas, all of North Vernon and Chase (Mandy) Douglas of Versailles; daughters, Melanie Kiser, Aryana Douglas, and Samantha Douglas, all of North Vernon; brothers, Steve Douglas of Elizabethtown, Mark (Tina) Douglas of Columbus, and Tim (Angela) Douglas, of Whiteland; sisters, Cyrena (Randall) Puckett of Louisville, Kentucky, Maureen (Norman) Nolley of Shelbyville, Brenda Harden and Marcelene Huesman, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Kayla (Nicholas) Cain, Lesli McGuire, both of North Vernon, and Morgan Hayden of Brownstown; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Ronnie and Kenneth Douglas.

A funeral service for Darryl will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, February 20, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, with military graveside rites.

Memorials may be made in honor of Darryl through the funeral home to the Lowell General Baptist Church.
