COLUMBUS
Richard Lee, 90, of Columbus, Indiana, formerly of Hammond, Indiana passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, February 18, 2022.
Mr. Lee is survived by his brother, Wayne (Sharon) Lee of Schererville, Indiana as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his soul mate, Karen Allen; her children, Mark (Diane) Allen, Eric Allen, Kristina Allen, and Gina Stone; and grandchildren, Kyle Allen, Allissa DeGroot, and Joshua DeGroot.
His faith was very important to him. He was formerly a long-time member of First Christian Church of Hessville. After moving to Columbus, he became a member of First Christian Church of Columbus and also often attended East Columbus Christian Church.
Richard was a United States Army Veteran serving as a military policeman from 1954-1956. He then worked as a railroad engineer for Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad for 40 years and retired in 1993.
His interested were reading, traveling, and going to auctions.
Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Esmond and Elsie Lee; sister, Lucille Lee; three brothers, Harold Lee, Melvin Lee, Edward Lee; and granddaughter, Hannah DeGroot.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.at the Hotel Indigo Conference room.
