COLUMBUS
Lucille M. Townsend, 94, of Columbus, passed from this life at 5:15 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2022 ,at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope.
Mrs. Townsend was born August 21, 1927, in Indianapolis, the daughter of George and Helen Benefiel Lowry.
She married Forrest R. Townsend February 16, 1946; he preceded her in death January 7, 1995.
Survivors includer her son, Dana Townsend of North Vernon; daughter, Cheryl Lee of Columbus; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a brother, Mike Tuttle of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Harold Lowry, Richard Tuttle and twin brother, Paul “Bud” Lowry and her son-in-law, Michael S. Lee.
She was a member of Ogilville Church of Christ.
She retired from Como Plastic and later worked as a security guard at Toyota.
She enjoyed playing cards, reading, traveling, going places with friends, shopping, listening to country music, eating at new restaurants, her morning coffee and ballroom dancing with her husband.
During the depression she only had two outfits to wear, it was always important to her to have a new outfit hanging in her closet.
She was known for her homemade noodles, date pudding and keeping up with those half her age.
She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart, she will be missed by all who loved her.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.
There will be no services at this time, inurnment will be at a later date at Daugherty Cemetery.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
The family would life to thank everyone at Miller’s Merry Manor and Our Hospice for all their kindness and care they provided.
