Construction work is resuming in the existing I-65 construction zone in Bartholomew County. Work began last year on the $65 million added travel lanes project that also includes asphalt resurfacing on I-65 between Columbus and Taylorsville, as well as a deck overlay on the I-65 bridge over State Road 46.
Upcoming lane closures and traffic shifts are planned as follows, weather permitting:
Monday, March 21 to Friday, March 25 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.): Nightly lane closures on I-65 northbound between mile marker 64 and mile marker 68 to move and place temporary concrete barrier wall.
Monday, March 28 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.): Nightly lane closures on I-65 southbound between mile marker 64 and marker 68 to shift traffic to northbound side, configuration in place through July.
Tuesday, March 29 to Friday, April 1 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.): Nightly lane closures on I-65 northbound and southbound between mile marker 68 and mile marker 76 to begin preliminary resurface work (patching layout and set-up).
Starting Monday, April 4 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.): Alternating nightly lane closures on I-65 northbound and southbound between mile marker 68 and mile marker 76 for patching, milling and paving, resurface work continues through July.
In addition to lane closures and traffic shifts, drivers should expect a round-the-clock reduced speed limit of 55 mph, with 45 mph flashing signs when workers are present.
