A Columbus student was among recent inductees into Franklin College’s top academic honorary society, which is marking its 100th year.
Jordan Johnson, a chemistry major from Columbus, was among 16 Franklin College students, two faculty members and three administrators who were named to the college’s Alpha Society.
The society admits students across the college’s academic disciplines, but membership is limited to the top 10 percent of the college’s junior and senior classes. Honorees must have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.5 throughout their studies.
The induction ceremony was led by Alpha Society President Dan Callon, professor of mathematics. Stacy Hoehn, associate professor of mathematics, delivered the keynote speech: “Is Bigger Better When It Comes To Data?” The ceremony was followed by a dessert reception. Many family members and friends of the inductees were in attendance.
