
WD Richards Elementary School fourth-grade student Samiksha Singh received an award for her essay on Bartholomew County history during the Association of Indiana Counties’ Southeast District Meeting in Switzerland County.

Samiksha Singh, a fourth-grade student at WD Richards Elementary School in Columbus, recently won the a regional National County Government Week essay contest for sponsored by the Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) and SRI, Inc.
Singh’s essay was chosen over entries from other fourth graders across AIC’s southeast district. Singh received $100 for winning the contest.
This year’s theme was “Celebrate your County’s History.” Essays were judged on how well students focused on a person, event or thing that is related to their county’s history.
Singh was received her award during the AIC Southeast District Meeting in Switzerland County. The meeting also included a synopsis of the 2022 Indiana Legislative Session by AIC legislative staff.
