COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Betty L. Brummett, 84, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 10:01 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Brummett was born July 9, 1937, in Columbus, one of 13 children born to John L. and Alta Bishop Bennett. On July 10, 1955, Betty was united in marriage to Russell K. Brummett; he preceded her in death January 30, 2020.
Mrs. Brummett was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service retiring in 1999 after 20 years of service. She was a member of The Point Church in Seymour. Mrs. Brummett will be remembered as the matriarch of her family.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Suzie Weddle of Columbus, Cathy Sandlin of Seymour, Cindy (Glenn) Lawyer of Seymour, and Rusty (Cathy) Brummett II of Columbus; grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Cochran, Sarah Weddle, Jon (Melanie) Sandlin, Joshua Sandlin, Cory (Ali) Lawyer, Keenan Brummett, Klayton Brummett, and Kaitlin Brummett; great-grandchildren, Finn and Amelia Hibbert, Stryker James, Jonus, Lainey, Jace, Noah, and Brady Sandlin, and Wyatt and Elijah Lawyer; her brother, John Breeding of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mrs. Brummett was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Alta Bennett; her husband, Russell; an infant sister; five sisters; and five brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Robert Lemmond officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brummett will be laid to rest in the Garland Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
