COLUMBUS
Barbara J. Sanders, 76, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:00 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2022, at Columbus Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Sanders was born July 27, 1945, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the daughter of Rex and Leora Poore England.
She married Charles L. Sanders Jr. March 22, 1963. He preceded her in death February 24, 2014.
Barbara retired from National Linen after 20 years of service.
Family meant more to Barb than anything, and she especially loved Christmas with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, all of whom called her Mamaw. We like to think that Mamaw has found her way to Papaw and Diane because that would make her very happy.
Survivors include her sons, Tony (Dee Dee) Sanders of Columbus, Jack (Patsy) Sanders of Destin, Florida and Danny (Sarah) Sanders of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Joyce) England of Columbus and her son-in-law, Steve Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Diane Smith; grandson, Zack Barnsfather; sisters, Pauline England, Gladys Burton and Nora Stepp and brothers, Alonso England and Holland England.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Larry Fields officiating.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
