COLUMBUS
Sidney A. Harris, 70, of Columbus, went to his heavenly home at 7:51 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Silver Oaks Health Campus.
Sidney was born December 12, 1951, in Lexington, Kentucky, the son of Fred T. and Wilma L. Quick Harris.
Mr. Harris is a 1971 graduate of Owen County High School in Owenton, Kentucky. He worked as a Quality Technician for Arvin Industries for 30 years before retiring. Sidney was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army and member of the Cavalry Community Church.
Survivors include his son, James F. (Melissa) Harris of Bloomington; grandchildren, George Easterling, Ericka (Cody) Reichenba, Jameson (Brandy) Harris, all of Columbus, Jada Harris of Greenwood, Corde Yarbough, Dominque Nichols, both also from Columbus; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Michael Harris, Gary P. Harris, both of Columbus, Kenny Harris of Carrollton, Kentucky, Freda (Pete) Ford of Louisville, Kentucky, Teresa Harris of Louisville, Kentucky; a host of nieces and nephews. Also survived by former sister-in-law Brenda Lucas Harris. For 45 years Sid considered Brenda and the Lucas family as his own and it was a mutual love by the Lucas family as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Clarissa Y. Russell; nieces, Jessica Nicole Harris Salas, Cassondra Michelle Wilson and Shayna Johnson.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Community Church of the Apostolic Faith with Rev. Frank Griffin officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.
Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veteran Honor Guard.
