Local man arrested on felony warrant after pursuit

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A local man who was wanted on a felony warrant was arrested on several charges after he attempted to flee from Columbus police officers on Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 5 p.m., CPD officers observed Sage S. Banks, 25, of Columbus operating a blue moped near 25th Street and Jordan Drive, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Officers determined that Banks had a felony warrant for his arrest and attempted to stop him a short time later. Banks refused to pull over and attempted to elude officers by cutting across parking lots, driving in the wrong lane on U.S. 31, and
disregarding traffic signals.

Banks jumped off the moped in a parking lot near U.S. 31 and 10th Street and was apprehended by officers after a short struggle.

He was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was
remanded on the following preliminary charges:
–Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle
–Resisting Law Enforcement
–Reckless Driving
–Bartholomew County Warrant (Possession of Methamphetamine)
