NORTH VERNON
Audrey Faye Dobson Hammonds, 81, of North Vernon, passed away on September 1, 2022, at her home. She was born on March 1, 1941, to Arch Maggard, and Ella Fields Maggard. She was the spouse of the late Charles Arthur Hammonds.
Audrey was a kind, caring lady that enjoyed gardening and loved working with flowers. She was employed through and retired from Columbus Regional Hospital as a Nurses Aid where she worked for 25 years. She was also an attendee of the Old Regular Baptist Church in Dupont, Indiana.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Dobson, of North Vernon, IN, Ricky (Stacy) Dobson, of Shelbyville, IN, and Timothy (Kattie) Dobson, of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Nathan Dobson, Jessica Robinson, Bo Dobson, Kyle Dobson, Carlton Dobson, Clayton Dobson, Michael Dobson, Shania Funches, Matt Dobson, and Jason Dobson; and several great-grandchildren.
Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, Arch and Ella Maggard; her husband, Charles Hammonds; son, David Ray Dobson; brothers, Curtis Maggard, and Billy Ray Maggard; and sister, Barbara Boggs.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery following the service. The visitation will take place on Monday, September 5 from 4 pm to 8 pm, also at the funeral home.
