It is such a tragedy what has happened and what continues in Ukraine. I just cannot understand why before the Russian invasion in Ukraine their demand that Ukraine does not join NATO was not on the table of discussion at the insistence of our government. One has to ask why then leaving Ukraine as a non-aligned country was such a bad thing and of such importance to US/NATO? It was, of course, not in the interest of our national security.
The whole narrative about all the bad things done by Russia is so much slanted in favor of Ukraine by the entire media including liberal and conservative news organization (including FoxNews, with only exception of Tucker Carlson). Of course, the news is coming from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s government, which outlawed all independent TV stations and news organization in his country. US reporters are guided by Zelensky’s officials where to go and what to see. Could some destroyed buildings be just collateral damage? One only has to ask himself, if Russians are targeting civilians why there are not casualties in hundreds of thousands?
I want just to comment on our President Joe Biden’s recent statement: “The United States strongly condemns Russia’s missile strikes today across Ukraine, including in Kyiv. These attacks killed and injured civilians and destroyed targets with no military purpose.”
We just need not to be hypocritical. Just consider US/NATO actions against Yugoslavia/Serbia in favor of Kosovo’s uprising and its proclamation of independence. Just for information, Kosovo was part of Serbia and later Yugoslavia for many centuries. Also, those military actions against Yugoslavia were not approved by the United Nations and therefore are often considered unlawful.
Finally, I want to say that I am not a Putin lover nor do I approve his military invasion of Ukraine. However, it is illogical to think that Ukraine can win a war with Russia regardless how many more billions of dollars in military aid as well billions of dollars financing Zelensky’s government we provide. It only prolongs the war, with tremendous loss of lives of military personnel, collateral loss of civilian lives, and much more infrastructure destruction.
We already had some inflation before the war started, but it only accelerated due to US sanctions against Russia that resulted in skyrocketing fuel prices. Furthermore, as this war continues it more and more leads the US and the entire Western world to a recession. Let us not forget that it also can potentially lead us in a full-out war with Russia, which has several thousand nuclear long-range weapons and thousands of tactical nuclear weapons.
