Turning Point Domestic Violence Services is inviting the community to stop by in person on Tuesday to help light up the lives of survivors of domestic violence this holiday season.
The event is Turning Point’s holiday help effort, which is taking the place of this year’s Holiday Store, a longtime tradition of providing gifts and more to the agency’s program participants and children.
Officials said while the Holiday Store is not possible due to logistical challenges this year, the agency’s goal remains to help ensure each program participant has a special holiday with their family, especially those who seek safety through the Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Programs.
To make a gift, Turning Point invites the community to stop by 729 Washington St. between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cookies, hot cocoa, and coffee will be provided, as well as a Turning Point ornaments for the first 50 gifts of $50 or more. Donations can also be made by visiting www.turningpointdv.org.
While Turning Point staff is working to connect families to alternative community resources, it is anticipated that many last-minute needs will arise due to the urgency of domestic violence work.
As the holidays and Giving Tuesday draw near, the agency seeks monetary donations, as well as gift cards from Amazon and Walmart, to meet immediate needs. These funds and gift cards will be utilized to empower clients to purchase items their family needs and will enjoy.
All gifts will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000 thanks to the generosity of Kenny Glass.
