North wins invitational
CONNERSVILLE — Reese Euler swept the four individual events and the all-around competitition Saturday to lead Columbus North to the team title at the Connersville Invitational.
The Bull Dogs scored a season-high 108.5 to win the 10-team event. Bloomington South edged Roncalli 102-625 to 102.0 for second.
Euler won the vault (9.4), bars (9.625), beam (9.55) and floor (9.55) in capturing the all-around with a 38.125.
North’s Lindsey Mullis placed second on the bars (9.25) and fifth on the beam (9.0) on her way to a third-place all-around finish with a 35.55. Laney Acton tied for third on the bars (8.775) en round to a fourth-place all-around finish with a 34.475.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Jets down Twisters
OLDENBURG — Hauser led only 9-8 after one quarter, but outscored Oldenburg Academy 19-4 in the second quarter and went on to post a 61-43 road victory on Saturday.
Kam Blair led the Jets (9-10) with 14 points. Taeshaun Tungate scored 13, Stryker Gill had 12 and Gavin Keller added eight.
Columbus Christian falls
Columbus Christian led 26-25 at halftime Friday, but Horizon Christian rallied for a 68-46 win.
Noah Edwards led the Crusaders (12-14) with 22 points. Peyton Walden added eight.
Devils top Panthers
JEFFERSONVILLE — Jennings County will have to share the Hoosier Hills Conference title after falling to Jeffersonville 65-59 on Saturday.
Keegan Manowitz, who went over the 1,000-point mark for his career and broke the school’s all-time assist record in Friday’s win against Columbus East, led the Panthers (17-2, 5-1) with 20 points and seven assists on Saturday. Carter Kent scored 17 points, Owen Law had eight points and Justin Ramey added seven points and 11 rebounds.
Jennings and Jeffersonville both finished 5-1 in the HHC. Bedford North Lawrence can make it a three-way tie for the title if it beats New Albany on Friday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Trinity wins regional
CAMPBELLSBURG — Class A No. 4 Trinity Lutheran won the first regional title in school history Saturday with a 71-43 victory against Springs Valley at West Washington.
The Cougars (22-6) led only 17-16 early in the second quarter when they went on a 9-0 run to take control. They built the lead to 41-24 at halftime and 52-33 after three quarters.
Bailey Tabeling led Trinity with 27 points, including a 55-footer at the third-quarter buzzer. Liza Froedge scored 14, Madison Keith had 11, Jordan Brewer added 10 and Laura Roeder chipped in nine.
The Cougars were 10 for 15 from 3-point range in the first half and hit 11 3s for the game.
