COLUMBUS

Andy Russell Venable, 87, of Columbus, went to be with the Lord at 11:38 a.m. Sunday,February 12, 2023. He passed at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.Andy was born June 20, 1935, in Vincent, Kentucky, the son of Andrew and Mary

Harvey Venable.

He married Janet S. Pittman June 22, 1958. He graduated from Hope High School in 1953.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country from 1954 to 1956.He worked for Public Service, later retiring as a Lieutenant from the Columbus Fire Department where he served from 1969 to 1990.

He was a former men’s Sunday School teacher at Hope Baptist Church for 26 years andattended The Bible Church of Columbus.

He loved fishing, hunting, sports and was an avid golfer since 1977.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years; children, Ronnie (Denise Harris) Venableof Columbus, Diana (Darwin) Gates of Columbus, Randy (Jill) Venable of Hartsvilleand Susan (Eric) Wallace of Hope; grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Fields, Cole andJordan Venable and Derek and Logan Green; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren;five step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Gill.

He was blessed by his family that he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, and five brothers.

A private family graveside service will be held at Garland Brook Mausoleum with Rev. David Marvin officiating. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
