COLUMBUS
Bonnie Yvonne Brooks, 85, of Columbus, passed from this life at 4:42 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Brooks was born October 4, 1937, in Columbus, the daughter of Irvin Paul and Emma Olive Collins McCord.
She married Billy Joe Brooks April 9, 1955; he preceded her in death August 7, 2004.
Bonnie was formerly employed in the deli department at Walmart.
She was a member of Jonesville Christian Church.
She enjoyed cross word puzzles, singing, and teaching herself to play just about any instrument.
She loved her cats, the most important thing to her was her family who she loved spending time with.
Survivors include her children, Billy Joe (Crystal) Brooks Jr. of Columbus, Belinda Douglas (Jeff Chaney) of Jonesville and Bettina (Jeff) Hoskins of Illinois; grandchildren, Lindsey (Ben) Noblitt, Zach Pike, Caylee (Eric) Drake, Kaden Brooks, Kolten Brooks, Kaven Brooks and Justin (Nina) Hoskins; seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Larry (Carol) McCord of Columbus, Barbara Scrougham of Columbus, Rosemary Hedger of Virginia and Sharon (Glen) Schurman of Seymour.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Daniel Hoskins; and a sister, Patty Lou McCord.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Jayne Noblitt officiating.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. to time of service.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Garland Brook Cemetery.
