Full Throttle Speedskating Team finished its competition season last weekend at the Land of Lincoln meet in Champaign, Illinois, against competitors from Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio and Washington D.C. This was age-based meet, with final placement by gender.
In the Pee-Wee A category, Christopher Schwab and Gabe Marimoto Taqueushi advanced to the A final in all of their distances. Schwab finished third at 500m, fourth at 111m and 333m, and fifth at 222m. Marimoto Taqueushi finished third at 111m, 222m and 333m and fourth at 500m. Schwab placed fourth overall, and Marimoto Taqueushi came in third overall for the Pee-Wee A boys.
In Junior E, Meredith Schwab advanced to the B finals at all distances, finishing third in 222m, 333mm and 500m following a collision with another skater, and finished first at 777m, claim the overall girls title in Junior E. Luis Marimoto Taqueushi advanced to the A finals at all distances, placing first at 333m, second at 222m and 500m and fifth at 777m to take second overall for the boys in Junior E.
In Junior D, Wyatt Kiefer Kiefer advanced to the A finals for 333m, 777m and 1000m distances and the B finals for 500m. He finished fifth at 333m, sixth at 777m and 1000m and first in the 500m. He finished fifth overall for Junior D boys.
In the Masters category, Duree Brown dvanced to the A finals in all distances, finishing first at 500m, 777m, 1000m and 1500m, and first overall for the Masters men.
SWIMMING
Club Olympia swims in SE Divisional meet
Last weekend Club Olympia Swim Team competed alongside 19 other teams from Southeastern Indiana in the Southeast Divisional Championships at Center Grove High School. Divisionals Weekend is the first of three consecutive championship weekend meets conducted by Indiana Swimming which also includes this weekend’s Senior State meet (qualified swimmers 15-and-Over or younger qualified swimmers who may choose to compete against the older swimmers) and next weekend’s Age Group State meet (qualified swimmers 14-and-under).

Sixty-one Club Olympia swimmers participated at the SE Divisional and achieved personal best times in 127 of their 205 swims throughout the weekend. Nine Club Olympia athletes achieved state qualifying times in 11 individual events and two relay events. Club Olympia now has 22 individual swimmers qualified in over 85 individual events and multiple relays for Senior State and Age Group State.
Club Olympia swimmers achieving their first state qualifying cut times of the year were Chad Pendleton in the 100-yard freestyle and 200 freestyle, Aahan Gupta in the 100 butterfly, Vivan Shah in the 50 backstroke, all competing in the 10-and-under age group, and Cavan Stilson in the 15-18 50 freestyle. Adding to their list of state qualified events were Brady Beyer in the 100 butterfly, Todd Hundley in the 100 backstroke, Camila Mejia Murguia in the 50 backstroke, Lily Pendleton in the 50 freestyle and Josh Pendleton in the 200 backstroke. Vivan Shah, Aahan Gupta, Shreyan Kulkarni and Chad Pendleton qualified for the Age Group State Championships in winning the 10U Boys 200 medley relay and 200 free relays.
Other Gold Medal event winners included Hundley in the 100 backstroke and 400 individual medley, Lilly Pendleton in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Silver Medal Winners were Gupta in the 100 butterfly, Kulkarni in the 500 freestyle, Lily Pendleton in the 50 breaststroke and 100 backstroke, Camila Mejia Murguia in the 200 IM, Hundley in the 400 IM and Josh Pendleton in the 200 backstroke.
Bronze Medal Winners were Rebeca Mejia Murguia in the 200 IM, Lily Pendleton in the 50 backstroke, Shah in the 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke and Chad Pendleton in the 50 backstroke.
In addition to the 10U Boys gold medal relay team, the 10U girls, 11-12 Boys, and 11-12 Girls relay teams all claimed bronze medal finishes.
Other top 8 medal individual event winning finishes during the weekend were turned in by Sanaa Kulkarni, Ty Maher, Emily Meek, Luke Miller, Annie Murer, Brooklyn Pendleton, Keaton Stephenson, Cavan Stilson and Xavier Zhang, as well as both the boys and girls 15-18 relay teams.
Donner competes in SE Divisional meet
Donner Swim Club had 180 individual swims in the SE Divisionals, with 118 of them being best times (for a 65% lifetime-best time rate), and recorded 112 top-16 finishes.
Donner also had two 10U Boys relays qualify for Age Group State, three 15-and-over relays qualify for Senior State, two individual Senior State qualifiers and one Age Group State qualifier from their performances.
Athletes who individually medaled and were podium finishers included Jude Abdallah (100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke), Cooper Bringman (100 butterfly and 50 butterfly), Ella Bringman (200 IM), Diego Cotero Tapia (100 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 200 IM, 100 freestyle and 200 butterfly), Caroline Crawford (50 freestyle and 100 backstroke), Harshith Devaguptapu (200 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke), Aarush Mahato (200 backstroke, 50 freestyle, 200 IM, 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle), Mridula Muthukumaran (200 backstroke and 100 backstroke), Cade Paulsen (50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke), Garrett Perfetto (100 freestyle) and Isaac Proffitt (50 freestyle).
Donner also had podium finishes in the 13-14 Boys 200 freestyle relay, 15-18 200 freestyle relay, 13-14 Girls 200 freestyle relay; 10U Boys 200 freesytle relay, 11-12 Girls 200 medley relay, 13-14 Girls 200 medley relay, 11-12 Boys 200 medley relay, 13-14 Boys 200 medley relay, 15-18 Boys 200 medley relay and 10U Girls 200 medley relay.
Donner also is competing this weekend at the Senior State Championships at next weekend at the Age Group State Championships.

HOCKEY
Flames take runner-up in Buckeye Tournament
The Columbus Flames 10U Hawley team finished second in its division of the year-end Buckeye Tournament. They beat Cincinnati Swords 4-0, West Virgina Wild 5-3 and Miami Redhawks 5-3 before falling to West Virgina Wild 4-3 in overtime in the championship game.
Wade Lynch and Camden Miller each netted four goals and one assist, and Hudson Raper recorded three goals and two assists to lead the Flames. Eli Allen notched three goals and one assist, Evan Armuth tallied 2 goals and 3 assists, Caz Axsom scored one goal, Oliver Smith had two assists and Blake Schneider added one assist. Jaxon Nolting was in net for all four games.
