North downs Southport
Columbus North scored five times in the bottom of the first to overcome an early 1-0 deficit and went on to pick up its first Conference Indiana win of the season Tuesday, a 7-3 triumph against Southport.
Blake Osbourne went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Bull Dogs (7-6, 1-1). Zach McLean went 3 for 4 with a double and combined with Ryan Rayburn on a six-hitter.
Olympians shock Stars
BEDFORD — Columbus East picked up its second victory of the season, a 5-2 win at Bedford North Lawrence.
Carson Williams went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, Eli Tindell went 2 for 3 and Caleb Martoccia had two RBIs for the Olympians (2-11). Jordan Flanders and Tindell combined on a six-hitter.
Jets, Shiners end in tie
HOPE — Hauser and Rising Sun finished in an 8-8 tie in a game that was called after seven innings because of darkness.
The Shiners outhit the Jets (8-5-1) 13-3. Hauser trailed 6-0 after 4 1/2 innings, but rallied with four in the fifth, two in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Eagles pick up win
SHELBYVILLE — Brown County picked up its second win of the season, an 11-6 victory at Southwestern (Shelby).
Jade Wollems went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, and Sawyer Gore went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Eagles (2-8). Brady Bond threw a nine-hitter and allowed only two earned runs.
Twisters top Cougars
GREENSBURG — South Decatur jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one inning, but Oldenburg Academy rallied for a 9-7 victory.
The Cougars (8-3) outhit the Twisters 9-8. Avery Seegers went 2 for 4 with a double, Colby Rathburn went 2 for 4 and Jansen McDonald had three RBIs.
GCA blanks Lancers
EDINBURGH — Greenwood Christian Academy scored 12 times in the first inning and went on to hand Edinburgh a 21-0, five-inning defeat.
The Lancers (2-11) were limited to two hits.
Warriors top Trinity
SCOTTSBURG — Trinity Lutheran came away with a 9-2 loss at Scottsburg.
Kowan Gross had two hits for the Cougars (5-8).

Bull Dogs best Stars
Jack Schiavello fired a 2-over-par 73 to lead No. 15 Columbus North to a 307-321 win against Bedford North Lawrence at Harrison Lake Country Club.
Willy Davis, Tyler Wilks and Joseph Perkins all shot 78 for the Bull Dogs. John Merritt and Alec Clark each shot 85.
East beats Braves
Columbus East picked up a 160-168 win against Brownstown Central at Otter Creek.
Pierce Arnholt and Ben Luedeke each shot 39 to lead the Olympians. Carter Greene carded a 40, Spencer Erfmeier added a 42, Jamall Starks shot 46 and Keaton Stephenson had a 52.
Bulldogs top Panthers
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County fell to New Albany 170-181 at St. Anne’s.
Tanner Stearns led the Panthers with a 43. Jack George carded a 44, Jake Grider added a 46, Davey Shaw shot 48 and Eli Simmons had a 50.
Lancers top Trinity
EDINBURGH — Max Blandford won medalist honors with a 40 to lead Edinburgh to a 187-199 win against Trinity Lutheran at Timbergate.
Keegan Smith and Trenton Schmidt each shot 48 for the Lancers. Gabe Bennett carded a 49, Mason Calhoun added a 50 and Wyatt Burton had a 51.
Jack Stuckwisch led the Cougars with a 46. Solomon Hall carded a 48, Wylie Jones added a 51, Andrew Lemming shot 54 and Gabe Lorenz had a 60.

North takes close loss
LAGRANGE, Ky. — No. 9 Columbus North ran into Kentucky power North Oldham and came home with a 3-2 loss.
Kathryn Wilson beat Willow Renton 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Annabelle Sun topped Adeline Masters 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (9-2).
North’s Aya Saad fell to Reagen Mangan 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Lucy Bergman and Grace Conner lost to Bailey Scott and Addie Dpoppelman 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Siri Poludasu and Nino Akhayla fell to Katlin Frazier and Kaitlyn McCraney 6-2, 7-6 (6) at No. 2 doubles.

HOPE — Hauser won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 win against Beech Grove.
Bella Kilps blanked Jeda Howard 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Charlie Clark beat Randy Underwood 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles for the Jets (6-3). Mattie Foster and Addyson Barriger topped Eva Kidwell and Danika Schell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Kayden Miller and Abby Blair defeated Riley Wynn and Morgan Yaney 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Hauser’s Yulia Karkusha fell to Lindsey Bombard 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

Jennings’ Mia Silvey and Makenzey Carr lost to Ella Chapman and Janae Comer at No. 1 doubles, and Joilie Chen and Trina Collins fell to Hailey Duerstock and Josie Nobbe at No. 2 doubles, both by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

NASHVILLE — Brown County won at No. 3 singles, but Seymour took the other four matches to claim a 4-1 victory.
Julia Burt beat Claire Combs 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (9-4).
Brown County’s Anna Stogsdill fell to Brooke Schafstall 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Anna Tipton lost to Elise Hartung 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Braves stop Lancers
TRAFALGAR — Edinburgh pulled out a three-set win at No. 1 singles, but Indian Creek took the others to hand the Lancers a 4-1 defeat.
Jessica Walsh beat Lauren Lewis 7-6, 6-7, (10-7) at No. 1 singles for Edinbugh.
The Lancers’ Zoey Sida fell to Reese Tunell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Izzy Richardson lost to Kylie Lemmon 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. JC takes second, East third
SEYMOUR — Jennings County finished second and Columbus East took third in the Seymour Invitational, which was for boys only. Seymour won with 186 points to 129 for the Panthers, 77 for the Olympians, 67 for Bedford North Lawrence and 32 for Madison.
Branden Braun led Jennings with wins in the 100 meters (11.63 seconds) and 200 (23.86). Kraedyn Young took the 1,600 (4:32.62), Levi Marsh captured the 400 (53.10) and the Panthers won the 4×100 (45.02) and 4×400 (3:32.96) relays.
East had a pair of double-winners. Jacob Guse took the shot put (44 feet, 8 1/2 inches) and discus (141-5), and Henrique Carvalho captured the 110 hurdles (16.14) and 300 hurdles (42.05).
SOFTBALL
South Decatur falls
STRAUGHN — Tri scored seven runs in the first inning and went on to post a 17-1 win against South Decatur.
Molly Eden had an RBI-triple for the Cougars (2-9).
Senators blank Cougars
CAMPBELLSBURG — Trinity Lutheran matched West Washington with six hits, but couldn’t score in a 3-0 loss.
Bailey Tabeling went 2 for 4 with a double for the Cougars (8-7).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Columbus rolls to win
Liberty Jones scored five goals Monday to lead Columbus to a 14-2 rout of the Southport JV.
Rylie Boezeman netted three goals, Meghan Imes scored to goals and Emma Butterworth added one goal and one assist. Dayna Butterworth, Kesey Kelley and Dakota Vreeland all had one goal; and Jayden Cross and Kate Ellis each notched one assist. Kaitlyn Nester stopped nine of 11 shots in goal.
